All you need is a decent Core 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent review to convince you. And that's where we come in.
All About Core Equipment
The first thing you should know about Core Equipment is that the company is an All-American success story. According to the company, the founders left their corporate gigs to start a company in the midwest. They devoted themselves to the outdoor lifestyle, and Core Equipment is the end-result.
In fact, Core Equipment wants you to enjoy your outdoor experiences without your equipment holding you back. We'll see what a Core 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent review says about that claim.
To accomplish their goal, they've assembled a small group of artists, designers, and “business gurus” who all share one thing in common: a love of the outdoors. Core Equipment certainly has passion, but is that good enough?
Let's find out.
Before You Buy
A Core 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent review is useless if you're not sure what a cabin tent is, or if you need one. For that reason, you should start with a good primer on cabin tents. And don't forget to assess whether or not you even need one.
But at its heart, a cabin-tent is tall. It's called a cabin tent because, like a cabin, you can walk into it without having to crouch down. In fact, cabin tents have ceilings over seven feet tall, so you can stand up all you want.
Another feature of cabin tents is large windows. You read that right. Expect large windows on all the walls, giving you a great view of your surroundings. And because you're looking at vertical walls, you get these views along with extra space inside the tent.
And another thing.
With cabin tents, you often get multiple divided rooms inside. That's great if you have a family or camp with friends. The walls have zipper doors in them, so you can easily get from one room to the other. Also, many larger cabin tents have an entirely separate compartment that acts as a sunroom.
Do you need one?
By now you're probably wondering if you really need something this big. If you have a family or do a lot of serviced campground-type camping, then there's no doubt that a cabin tent is for you. After all, that extra space and those big rooms make for comfortable camping, especially with kids.
Also, cabin tents fold up easily and can fit in the trunk of a car, so you won't need to worry about how to bring it along.
On the other hand, if you do a lot of solo camping, or backwoods camping, or canoeing and hiking, then you'll need something smaller.
The real question is what size tent do you really need?
To find the answer, just think about what you plan to fit inside it, and how you'll transport it. If you need air mattresses and lots of clothing and a bed for the dog, you want a big cabin tent. But remember that you'll need a car to transport everything.
Core 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent Review
So, you want a Core 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent review to help you make a buying decision, do you? No problem, because we set out to find all the information we could about these massive tents.
The first thing you need to know is this tent goes up in an instant. You can have your Core 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent up in two or three minutes, thanks to telescoping poles pre-attached to the structure. Simply pop them into place, and your tent is ready.
Which is amazing when you consider that the tent is 14 feet by 9 feet when open, with a massive 78-inch-high ceiling.
Lots of room
Picture this: your entire family, and your sister's entire family, all camping together in one tent. While that may give you shivers just thinking about it, it will also save you a bunch of money.
WIth Core Equipment's 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent, you can do it. There is a lot of room here. Best of all, there's a dividing wall inside the tent. That means you can keep your party separated, whether it's your kids or your sister.
Also, the tent has a big, wide T-door that allows you to walk in and out without bending over.
Another thing you'll love is that despite being as large as a cabin, the Core 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent is completely weatherproof. The rain fly keeps water from the roof, so you don't have to worry about you or your stuff getting wet.
Also, while researching our Core 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent review, we discovered that this tent has a unique venting system that allows air to circulate inside the tent comfortably. Located just above the ground, near the floor, you'll find several vents. Air can get in.
If you've ever woken up in a hot tent, you'll know why this is an important feature.
What Customers Say
You're probably wondering what others have to say about this tent. Well, what's a Core 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent review without checking in on actual customers?
That's what we did. And customers on Amazon gave it a healthy 4.5 out of 5 stars. Most of them said it was easy to set up, comfortable, and very roomy. More specifically some customers said:
“WONDERFUL TENT! JUST SHY OF PERFECT!
“GREAT TENT FOR MY FAMILY!”
“THIS TENT REQUIRES ZERO PROFANITY”
Of course, not everyone was happy. Several customers complained that the tent tears at the seams too easily. And there seems to be a problem where the fly doesn't cover the windows, so if you leave them open and it rains, everything inside gets wet. Oops.
Pros and Cons
- Instant 60 Second Setup; Sleeps 9 people; Fits two queen air mattresses; Center Height:78
- CORE H20 Block Technology and adjustable ground vent
- Features room divider and wall storage pockets keep items neat and off the tent floor
- Electrical cord access port (port is fully closable when not in use)
- Includes rain fly, tent stakes, and carry bag
First impressions count, and the Core 9-person instant cabin tent has plenty of pros going for it. However, it has its fair share of cons, as well. Nothing can be perfect.
How It Stacks Up
So far, our Core 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent review has focused on how this tent performs. We know it's big, has great air venting, and also comes with decent weatherproofing. And because it goes up easily, there's no messing around trying to set it up.
But how does it stack up to the others?
After all, Core Equipment isn't the only one who makes some of the best instant tents of this size. Let's take a look.
How We Reviewed
To help you make an informed buying decision, we checked out a few of Core Equipment's competitors in this niche space. Of course, we went with the biggest names in the industry, including Coleman and Ozark Trail. No doubt you've heard of them.
First, we looked up what their websites said about their instant cabin tents. Then we checked out Amazon to read customer reviews. After all, customers are the ones using these tents in the real world.
- Spacious 8 person tent has enough room for 2 queen size airbeds
- Sets up in 1 minute in 3 easy steps
- WeatherTec system with patented corner welds and inverted seams keeps water out
- Rugged Polyguard 2x double thick fabric for reliable, long lasting use
- Measures 14 x 10 feet with 6 foot 7 inch center height
First up is the Coleman 8-person instant family tent. Coleman is possibly the biggest name in outdoor living, and they're known for producing quality products. If you camp, no doubt you own at least one piece of Coleman gear.
This particular tent is massive. The ceiling reaches six-feet seven-inches high at the center, and there's enough room inside to fit two queen-sized beds. That comes out to nearly 14-feet of space!
Then there's the patented “Weathertec” system, which includes inverted seams, corner welds, and special weatherproofing in the fibers to keep the rain out. Best of all is the polyguard fabric, which is two-times thicker than the Core Equipment tent, to stop tears and rips.
Despite all of that, customers only gave the Coleman 3.3 out of 5 stars.
Many people praised Coleman for the ease of setup. These tents go up quickly without hassle. Also, there was plenty of praise for the amount of space inside the tent.
On the downside, many customers complained that the tent's roof is not completely waterproof, with some spots that drip during a rainstorm.
Also, most of the complaints centered around the guy lines and tent pegs. It seems the guy lines are required or the tent tips over, but the tent pegs used to hold them in are too small and flimsy.
Overall, more people were unhappy with their purchase than happy.
Next up in our Core 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent review is the Ozark Trail 11-person instant cabin tent. Just think about that for a moment. Eleven people!
Ozark Trail, another of those huge names in camping, manages to fit so many people in here by dividing the tent into three separate rooms. That's better than the two rooms in the Core Equipment tent, and one room in the Coleman.
The ceiling is over six feet tall, so most people can stand with no issues. And at 14-feet by 14-feet, there's enough room for several families to sleep here. The walls include zip-up doors for privacy, while six large windows allow air and sun.
We like the mesh-panel ceilings, allowing warm air to vent out while cool air comes in through the windows. And because the tent poles come pre-built into the tent, putting it up is a snap.
On Amazon, customers gave it a respectable 4.1 out of 5 stars.
Almost everyone loved how simple the tent is to set up. They also praised the amount of space available, and a few people were blown away by having three large, separated rooms in one tent.
However, one of the biggest complaints people had was that the support struts for the fly are cheap and break easily. The end result is that the fly doesn't stay on, and when it rains, that mesh ceiling is a bad thing.
There were also a few complaints about the material ripping and several about cheap tent pegs that break easily.

Finally, we checked out one of the coolest looking tents we've seen. The Mobihome 6-person tent is an instant tent that can fit a family or group of friends. Because it goes up with the pull of a cord here and the push of a spar there, you get a cabin tent in under three minutes.
But there's more to it.
For starters, this tent is built with sturdy polyester and includes a strong tent fly, so you get 100-percent waterproofing. Even the tent floor is waterproof! We found that this was the only cabin tent that offered a fully-extended rain fly, keeping the windows protected as well as the roof.
Then there's the pure size of it. The center is over 55-inches high, while the tent itself is 35-inches by 10-inches. Now that may not be as high or as big as some of the cabin tents we looked at, but it's plenty big enough for a family.
But what you'll love the most about this tent is that the mesh windows are angled, so you can stare at the night sky as you lay in your warm sleeping bag. No matter how you spin a Core 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent review, you still can't see the stars.
With the Mobihome, you can!
Customers gave it a respectable 4.1 out of 5 stars on Amazon.
They loved that it was easy to set up and takedown, and also that it's only 14-pounds once it's all packed up.
However, a few customers complained that it was smaller than expected. They said they couldn't stand inside, and had to hunch down instead.
Also, a few customers complained that it's not very sturdy.
Go Big and Go Home
We learned enough in our Core 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent review to tell you straight-up that Core Equipment offers the best large instant cabin tent you can buy. Whereas the competition makes compromises or tries too hard to be different, Core just gets it done.
For example, the Coleman tent is tough, but they sacrificed stability, and the tent pegs to achieve it. And while the Ozark Trail tent is huge, the fly doesn't secure strongly, and the fabric rips easily. Overall, the Core 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent is the one to buy.
